Bus Ministry
Why have a Bus Ministry?
The Bible says, "Go out into the highways and hedges,
and compel them to come in, that my house may be
filled." (Luke 14:23) We realize that some people
(especially children) are unable to attend church on
their own. Bethany FWB Church has made a way for
these people to come to church. Our purpose is to
reach children and their families with the gospel of our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With this goal in mind,
our bus ministry continues and our desire is to be a
blessing to Norfolk and the surrounding areas in
Virginia Beach.

...a place where friends become family
How does the Bus Ministry work?
Every Sunday morning, Bethany FWB Church sends a
bus to pick up people in our area and bring them to
church. On the bus, they are supervised and taught by
a CDL-certified, friendly bus driver and a trained Bus
Captain.
Our Bus Captain, Ken Stipes, with Brother Charles
Twisdale, go out every Saturday at 10:00 am to visit the
riders and to sign up new families.
On Sunday, Brother Ken knocks on the door to ensure
safe passage from their home to the bus, letting the
parents know that their children are on their way to
Bethany FWB Church. Upon arrival at church, children
are taken to their age-appropriate Sunday school
classes. When church is over, the bus is loaded and
everyone is taken back home. We walk the children to
their doors and wait for acknowledgment that there is
someone to meet them. Children are never left alone
when no one is at home.
How much does it cost?
Our Bus Ministry provides safe transportation
for you and your children, at no cost to your
family. We would love to hear from you!
What happens on the bus?
Our Bus Captain, Brother Ken Stipes, works
hard to have contests and programs on the bus
to make it an exciting time.
Where does Bethany Bus run?
We currently have one route starting in the
Southern Plaza Shopping Center, then traveling
to Willoughby Spit and return to the Norfolk
Military Housing Complex. Once completed, we
proceed down Hampton Blvd. to West 37th
Street, to New York Street, then back to Granby
to Princess Anne Road to Cape Henry and
return to Bethany Church.
How can I ride the Bus?
If you are in our area, we would love to pick you
up! If you or someone in your family needs a
ride to church, please call Bethany at 853-7300,
Brother Ken at 757-675-4447 or send an e-
mail to Kstipes@aps4u.com and a bus will be
by this Sunday.
